This competition piece is an integration of my modern dance training + techniques with pole dance. The movement focuses on exploring grounded, rhythmic choreography that moves into and out of the floor that channels a primal, animalistic quality. The use percussive bass beats and rhythmic structures in the music is meant to channel a feeling of electricity and unpredictability to the viewers and creates a space that feels wild, unfamiliar, and untamed. My intention was to compel my audience not by grace and ease, but by the ferocity and athleticism in this piece.
